Dcypher Custom made foundation

Image
Product: Dcypher Custom made foundation   Who for: Anyone and everyone   First impressions: Looks too dark for me.   After one week : Sorry it is a no   After one month: Still a no   Stockists: Dcypher   Oh, I had some high hopes for this foundation.  But it is a big NO from me.  The colour was too dark or my liking, my skin did not like it.  I cannot put my finger on why it just did not work for me.  I tried it with a brush, fingers, and a sponge nothing made it look right.

Haus Labs Eye-Dentify Gel Pencil Eyeliner - Street

Image
Product: Haus Labs Eye-Dentify Gel Pencil Eyeliner - Street Who for: Anyone and everyone who wears make-up. First impressions: Great Colour After one week: Brilliant   After one month: A dream   Stockists: Haus Labs, Amazon   I bought this shade as I was having a ‘Am I too old to wear black eyeliner’ moment as I either line my eyes all around or just line the top lashes and tightline.  Yes, I tight line even though I have dry eye as I like the look and am incredibly careful on the eyeliners I use – I have found cheaper brands do cause me trouble.  But this did not, and I love the way my eyes look.  This is he colour I wear almost every day as to me grey is the perfect neutral; I even have pale grey nails (more later).  This applies like a dream and lasts all day without smudging.  Eye make-up remover removes it easily without tugging or rubbing hard around the eye area.  The only issue I have is that the best way to b...

Fenty Beauty Flypencil Longwear Pencil Eyeliner - BankTank

Image
Product: Fenty Beauty Flypencil Longwear Pencil Eyeliner – BankTank   Who for: Anyone who wants smudge and water-resistant long wear eyeliner   First impressions : Like the colour   After one week: Creamy and does not tug my eye area   After one month: Brilliant for autumn   Stockists: Fenty Beauty, Boots, Harvey Nichols   I bought this as I wanted a change from the Benefit Blue and black eye liner.  I picked this colour as I have hazel eyes and hoped it would enhance them which it does.  I like the fact that it has a matte finish once it has dried down, that was a bonus.  It is very creamy and draws on the eyelid smoothly without dragging which is great as I have found that my eye lashes and skin can be sore when I am having trouble with my dry eye.  I found that it irritated my waterline when I applied it but that could be because I was having a really bad day with my dry eye so I apply it to upper and low...

Nars Climax Extreme Mascara - mini

Image
Product: Nars Climax Extreme Mascara - mini   Who for: Anyone who wants extreme volume and black pigment in one coat   First impressions: Not sure if I can get into the inner corner   After one week: Love it   After one month: Love it   Stockists: Nars, LookFantastic, Cult Beauty, Boots, FeelUnique, Space NK,   Did you know that if you have an Alexa or Google you can ask them to send you samples, neither did I until I had an email from a company (Beauty Markdown).  I tried it and got this mini.  I like a mascara that makes my lashes look their best and this mascara did it.  It did not smudge or flake.  Just stayed how I had applied it.  If I wanted a more dramatic look, I would wait a few seconds and apply a second coat.  It did not clump just separated and made my lashes look black, defined and with volume.  My lashes did not feel heavy or crunchy nor did they stick together when I blinked ...

Benefit Brow Microfilling Pen

Image
Product: Benefit Brow Microfilling Pen   Who for: Anyone who wants to try microblading without the pain   First impressions: I do not think I can use this   After one week: Looks like I have had them tinted   After one month: Love it!   Stockists: Benefit, Boots, Lookfantastic, CultBeauty   As you can probably guess I am a fan of Benefit Cosmetics and like to try products when they release them.  As soon as I saw this, I knew I would like it and I do.  My brows are looking better than they did a few years ago due to the wax and tinting I have had done at Benefit concessions but due to lockdown I have not had anything done since March.  I bought this as I wanted to add structure to my brows and fill in missing areas because of age and overplucking.  This does this and more, I like the way my brows look with this, and I have used it with Gimme Brow+ and Precisely, My Brow.  This is a great foundation pr...

GOSH DONODERM Prime ‘n’ Set Spray

Image
Product: GOSH DONODERM Prime ‘n’ Set Spray   Who for: Anyone who likes to set their make-up   First impressions: Fine mist   After one week: Does what it says   After one month: What can I say it does what it says   Stockists: GOSH, Superdrug   As I had a reaction to their Eyelash and Eyebrow growth serums, I was worried about how my skin would react to this.   It did not which is great but as I am a person who in the summer or in general does not wear a lot of make-up it is not something that I would wear on a daily basis.   I think I would use it if I were going out and as there are restrictions on going out in the UK, I will not need it.   If you are someone who wears foundation etc, then this would be perfect especially as we must wear a mask when out an about.   There is no fragrance, does not leave the skin sticky or shiny.   It is just not for me.

GOSH Grow Serum Eyelash

Image
Product: GOSH Grow Serum Eyelash   Who for: Anyone who wants to fill in any gaps   First impressions: Hope it helps my eyelashes   After one week: Had to stop using it   After one month: Had to stop using it   Stockists: GOS.H, Superdrug, Amazon   Unfortunately, I had to stop using this after three days as I developed soreness in the eyebrow and eyelid area.   After a couple of days, the areas were itchy and lumps and redness.

BeautyPie One Powder Wonder

Image
Product: BeautyPie One Powder Wonder Who for: Anyone and everyone First impressions: Scary – my face will look white After one week: Love it After one month: Love it Stockists: BeautyPie I have watched Nadine Baggot recommend this product on numerous occasions, so I bit the bullet and bought it.   Oh, I am glad that I did.   I was worried that my skin would feel dry and tight as it has done with other powder-based products as my skin can be dry.   I should not have worried and no, my face does not look white or pasty just healthy.   I use it to set my concealer under my eyes and on my T-zone if I feel a bit shiny.   But the one thing I like to use it on my eyelid to set my primer and over the top of my gel eyeliner to set it so that it does not transfer onto my skin just below my eyebrow as I have hooded eyes.   It is one of those powders that can be put in your handbag just in case you want to refresh or retouch up certain areas.

Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon - Blacquer

Image
Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Product: Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Who for: Anyone who wants the look of a gel liner with using a brush First impressions: Lovely point that delivers the right thickness of line After one week : Lasts all day After one month: TBC Stockists: Harvey Nichols, Marc Jacobs Beauty, John Lewis, I had been sent this from Glamour Beauty Club to try.  This gel liner gives the perfect line and can go in close to the top lashes, meaning that you can create a thick or thin line depending on how you feel.  It can be applied to the waterline and can be used to tightline creating the look of ticker, fuller lashes.  I had worried that it would irritate my eyes as some liners have done in the past.  This didn’t.  It is waterproof and came off easily with the Curél Gel Cleanser that I am currently using.  I believe that the full-size crayon has a...

Benefit Easy Smokin' Eyes Palette

Image
Who for: Anyone who wants a staple eye palette that can create different looks First impressions: The shades are lovely I am just scared in which order to use them After one week: I love the ability to use the shadows separately After one month: TBC Stockists: Benefit, Debenhams, Lookfantastic, House of Fraser, CultBeauty, Boots, John Lewis I had bought this as I wanted to wear eyeshadow for a family event and wasn’t sure what I was wearing clothes wise, so I wanted a neutral eye palette, this is it.  It is a palette that should be in everyone’s arsenal as each eyeshadow can be worn individually, or as two complimentary shades or as three, but the ultimate look is as the four together.  The pigment gives you the option to have a subtle barely there or a very noticeable colour to your eyes by building up the colour.  For me this is great as I gain confidence in applying eyeshadow, I can increase the intensity of the colour that I a...

Huda Beauty Nude Obsession Light Eye Palette

Image
Who for: Anyone and everyone First impressions: The shimmer scares me After one week: I have fell in love with the palette After one month: TBC Stockists: Huda, Boots, FeelUnique, CultBeauty, Harvey Nichols I chose the light palette as I haven’t really worn eyeshadow for a few years and had hoped that this and another palette would reignite my fire with regards to experiment.  I also had a reason as my eldest son was/is due to graduate university this year (with coronavirus we are not sure if or when he will).  And I wanted to look my best for his photos.  I feared how the shimmer would look on me and I shouldn’t have been as they are so beautiful and blend so easily.  I didn’t clean up under my eye in these photos, there wasn’t much drop off and it didn’t irritate my eyes which I was worried about.  I think I will be trying more palettes in the future.  In the picture below I started with the central pale colour all over the e...

Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion Original

Image
Travel size tube of Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion Original Who for: Anyone who wants their eyeshadow to last all day and to be vibrant First impressions: Looks like any ordinary primer After one week: Eyeshadows look great and don’t crease After one month: To be updated Stockists: Urban Decay, LookFantastic, Debenhams, John Lewis, Selfridges, FeelUnique, Boots, House of Fraser I don’t wear eyeshadow as much as I used to as I am a homebody – my look when I go out is eyeliner and mascara.   Also because of my dry eye and MGD I find wearing eyeshadow difficult as the fallout makes my eyes very sore and bloodshot.   I bought this as I wanted to wear some eyeshadow and had hoped that this would prevent any problems with my eyes.   It did and the eyeshadows not only stayed on all day but looked more vibrant and defined than without.   A small amount and I mean a small amount either applied with fingers or a brush goes along way. ...

Benefit The Porefessional: Hydrate Face Primer

Image
Packaging and tube of Benefit The Porefessional: Hydrate Face Primer Who for: Anyone who wants a primer that hydrates as well as minimising pores First impressions: Looks like the original primer but has a cooling effect on the skin After one week: Skin looks great even without foundation After one month: With and without foundation my skin looks hydrated and pores are not visible. Stockists: Benefits, Boots, John Lewis, House of Fraser, Debenham, QVC UK This is a great edition to the Porefessional range.   It has all the benefits of the original Porefessional it just has the added benefit of the hyaluronic acid that provides the skin with 12 hours hydration.   Sometimes, I found the original could be a little dry, this isn’t.   As you apply it to the skin, the skin feels cool where the primer is blended into the skin.   It leaves the skin with a velvet matte finish that looks perfect without foundation and helps adhere the foundation to the s...

Maybelline The Falsies Instant Lash Lift Look Volumising Mascara

Image
Tube of Maybelline The Falsies Instant Lash Lift Look Volumising Mascara   Who for: Anyone who wants the look of LVL without the hassle First impressions: Weird brush shape – like a slim figure of eight. After one week: Not as good as Benefit BADgal Bang After one month: To be updated Stockists: Boots, Superdrug, I was sent this as a prize for being a reviewer of the week on GLAMGEEK.  I have lashes that are long and a little straight, and like a mascara that can lift and curl them – I had high hopes for this mascara.  Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed as it didn’t give the lift or look that I get with one coat of Benefit BADgal Bang.  Maybe its me because I found the brush strange and hard to apply the mascara, I didn’t feel the pull and lift of my lashes that I get with BADgal Bang.  It was Ok at the outer corners to apply but I couldn’t work out the best way to hold the brush to apply mascara to the inner corner withou...

Revolution The Liner

Image
Revolution The Liner Who for: Anyone who wants to accentuate their lashes First impressions: Fine tip that can create different widths After one week: Great for the flick and fine lines After one month: Like the ability to create different looks Stockists : Revolution Beauty, Superdrug I bought this as I wanted to create a flick and I didn’t have my favourite Benefit Roller Liner.   This is a great alternative.   I like that I can get really close to my upper lashes and that I can create a thin line or thick line depending on how I hold the pen.   The ability to use the tip to create the perfect flick is great.

{GIFTED} L'Oreal Bambi Eye False Lash

Image
L'Oreal Bambi Eye False Lash Who for: Anyone who wants the false lash effect without wearing them First impressions: Weird shaped brush After one week: Just doesn’t give me what I want with one coat After one month: Looks clumpy with extra coats Stockists: Superdrug, Boots I was kindly sent this to review by GlamGeek.   The brush is densely packed with bristles and an unusual shape.   I found that I had difficulty in applying it to the inner corner lashes then again it maybe the way I was holding the brush.   There were very little flecks of mascara under my eyes at the end of the day, but I didn’t find that the curl to my lashes lasted as long as Benefit Roller Lash.   It also didn’t give me the length or definition of my lashes that all of Benefit Mascaras give.   One coat was not enough the get the desire effect I would have to apply three or four coats.   I prefer a mascara that gives me definition, length, volume in one c...

Benefit Boi-ing Cakeless Concealer

Image
Packaging and tube of Benefit Boi-ing Cakeless Concealer in shade 3 Who for: Anyone who wants full coverage concealer that doesn’t cake First impressions: The shade looks a little dark for me After one week: Brilliant on its own and with foundation After one month: Lasts all day and doesn’t cake Stockists: Benefit, John Lewis, Debenhams, QVCUK I am the type of person that knows she needs concealer but doesn’t know where to apply it.   When I went to have my Brow Wax and Tint with Emma at John Lewis Grand Central Birmingham, she colour-matched me and applied it to my under-eye area, nose and chin to reduce the redness.   I was impressed with how my skin look with just the concealer on.   I was surprised that she had used shade 3 on me.   I thought I would have been shade 1 or 2.   It was the Beauty Product of the Month on QVCUK.   I am glad I did.   I don’t have to wear a full face of foundation every day I can apply concealer ...

{GIFTED} Lola Makeup Chubby Cream Lipstick

Image
Lola Makeup by Perse Chubby Cream Lipstick in Pomegranate Who for: Anyone who wants the coverage of a lipstick and the moisture of a lip balm First impressions: Ideal for carrying around in my backpack After one week: The ideal finishing touch any kind of makeup look After one month: The perfect red shade for every day Stockists: Lola I was kindly sent this by Lola Makeup to review.  I chose the Pomegranate shade and I am very pleased with my choice.  It doesn’t need a lipliner to be applied first as it doesn’t bleed into the fine lines that I have around my mouth.  The pencil shape helps apply it to the lip area perfectly.  There is enough pigment to give a hint of colour to the lips and is moisturising without being sticky.  I like to apply it straight from the bullet but it is creamy enough to be applied with fingertips to give a more edgier look to the lips.  Some cream lipsticks make the skin on my lips peel off this doesn’t...
